Child Injured In Yolo County Hit And Run Car Accident
A 5-year-old child suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a motorist in the 700 block of East Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. on October 2, 2010. Francisco Pinon-Martinez, 20, the driver of the car, fled away from the accident scene after hitting the child. This Yolo County auto accident occurred in the Casa Del Sol community, approximately 300 miles from San Diego.
Woodland Police Seargent Steve Guthrie said that they found the child unconscious upon their arrival at the accident scene. Seargent Steve Guthrie found a Ford Expedition SUV parked at the end of the main road, with a plastic tricycle stuck beneath its front bumper.
The injured child was immediately rushed to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. Francisco Pinon-Martinez was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving without a license later by Woodland Police.
According to California Vehicle Code Section 23152 (a): "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle."
