El Cajon Teen Found Dead after East San Diego County Car Accident

By San Diego Car Accident Lawyer on June 20, 2012 - Comments off

18-year-old Mario Arturo Rodriguez of El Cajon was found dead inside a car that apparently crashed off a rural East County road on June 14 around 4:10 p.m. A passerby reported the vehicle near the intersection of Olde Highway 80 and Lake Jennings Park Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the 1999 Acura sedan appeared to have smashed into an oak tree before coming to rest in a stand of bamboo and other vegetation, largely concealed from view.
It may surprise residents of San Diego to learn that 71 people lost their lives and 5,819 were injured because of car accidents in San Diego, based on the CHP’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In addition, throughout the County of San Diego in 2009, 217 individuals were killed and 12,998 suffered injuries because of vehicle crashes.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family members and friends of Rodriguez for such a heartbreaking loss.
Based on this news report, it is unclear what caused this fatal car collision. There are several unanswered questions here. Was the motorist distracted or speeding? Was there any other vehicle involved? Was there a dangerous condition on the roadway where this incident occurred?
In cases where negligence or wrongdoing is involved, the family of a deceased car accident victim can seek compensation by filing a wrongful death claim. The deceased’s family members would be well advised to seek the guidance of an experienced San Diego wrongful death car accident lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and make sure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are protected.
