Tourists from Spain Hospitalized After a Rear End Crash in San Diego

By San Diego Car Accident Lawyer on July 20, 2012 - Comments off

Two men, who were visiting from Spain, suffered serious injuries after their rental car was rear-ended by a FedEx truck on July 16 around 11 p.m. The two were waiting at a red light on Miramar Road and Kearny Mesa Road when the truck crashed into their backside.
Responding paramedics and firefighters had to pull both the men out of the car to save their lives. Both the injured men were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, the third person in the car escaped unhurt.
Running red lights is a serious issue across the nation. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Traffic Safety Facts 2008 Report, there were more than 2.3 million reported intersection-related crashes, resulting in more than 7,770 fatalities and approximately 733,000 injury crashes in 2008.
If this accident was caused by the negligent driving of the truck driver, then he and his employer may be held liable for this car crash. Because the driver is an employee of FedEx and was on duty at the time of the accident, this makes FedEx also liable for the damages. The injured victims may file a personal injury claim against both the at-fault truck driver and the FedEx company to obtain compensation to cover loss of earnings, cost of treatment, and other accident-related expenses.
