By San Diego Car Accident Lawyer on June 25, 2012 - Comments off

Two men were injured when the SUV they were travelling in was rear-ended by another man driving a Honda Civic on June 20 around 10 p.m. near Plaza Boulevard in San Diego. Due to the impact of the collision, the driver of the Ford Explorer lost control, the vehicle rolled, and landed on its roof.
Both the men inside the SUV were able to crawl out of the wreckage with minor injuries and were immediately treated at the accident scene by paramedics responding to this multiple-vehicle crash. The Civic driver escaped unhurt in this two-car accident.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), calls to 911 were placed before the crash to report that the driver of the Civic was driving recklessly.
According to CHP’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), there were 71 fatalities and 5,819 injuries reported as a result of car accidents in San Diego. Countywide, 217 people died and 12,998 were injured due to car accidents, during the same year.
As reckless driving was determined to be a major factor in the accident, the Civic driver could be held financially responsible for the injuries suffered by the SUV occupants.
In cases where negligence is involved, the injured victims can seek compensation by filing a personal injury claim. The injured victims and their family members would be well advised to seek the guidance of an experienced San Diego car accident lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and make sure that the negligent party is held liable and victim’s legal rights are protected.
