An 8-year-old boy was struck and injured in a San Diego pedestrian accident that occurred on October 28, 2011, around 3:30 p.m. in front of a Lincoln Park elementary school on T Street, near South 48th Street. According to the police officials, the boy stepped onto the street and was struck by a passing car driven by a 53-year-old woman.

The little boy was treated for a broken foot. The at-fault motorist stayed at the accident scene to speak with police. From the limited information, it is not clear as to what led to this accident. The investigation is in process.

3-year-old Milena Avila was killed in a Santa Ana car accident that occurred on May 18, 2011, around 4:40 p.m. at Edinger Avenue and Kensington Park Drive. According to the responding Orange County officials, the victim was riding in her car seat when the car was broadsided by another vehicle due to unknown reasons. Three other people also suffered injuries in this car accident.

According to the coroner's office, the injured girl was immediately transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment, where she was pronounced dead after three hours. There is limited information and no clarity on the accident. Was one of the drivers intoxicated? Did a traffic violation occur? Was one of the drivers was negligent or distracted?

Whatever are the results of the investigation, an irreversible tragedy has happened and no consolation can be enough for loss of Avila.
