NFL Legend Junior Seau’s Suicide Possibly Linked to Football Head Trauma

By San Diego Car Accident Lawyer on May 3, 2012 - Comments off

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau was found dead at his home earlier with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
Seau suffered from severe head trauma during his football career, which caused him to be mentally impaired and depressed. This may have led to his apparent suicide.

It is believed that Seau purposely shot himself in the chest so that his brain would be preserved and sent to the NFL’s brain bank for further study.
Brain injury is a widening crisis among football players, both young and old. Junior Seau’s death investigation could have a huge impact on the NFL and spark a greater attention toward head injuries and concussions in football.
Born and raised in San Diego, 43-year-old Seau came to be a local celebrity. The 12-time Pro Bowl player started his football career at Oceanside High School and went on to play for the University of Southern California (USC) before being drafted into the NFL as a San Diego Charger.
The Jurewitz Law Group sends our deepest condolences to Seau’s family, friends, and loyal fans. This is a huge loss to the San Diego community. He is and will always be San Diego’s best-known and favorite Charger of all time.
