Bicyclist Killed in Kearny Mesa Car Crash

A bicyclist was killed in a tragic bicycle crash that occurred on March 22, 2012, around 7 a.m. at Balboa Avenue over Interstate 805 (I-805). According to San Diego Police Lt. Jerry Hara, the bicyclist was struck and killed while riding his bicycle on the eastbound side of Balboa Avenue by an SUV.

It is believed that due to heavy traffic, the bicyclist was run over by at least two more cars. Traffic investigators spent hours taking measurements at the crash site. It is unclear whether the bicyclist was riding on the shoulder.
