San Marcos Head-On Crash Injures Two Drivers

A 17-year-old boy and a 49-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in a head-on car crash that occurred on July 30, 2011, around 2:15 p.m. on Grand Avenue just west of S. Bent Avenue in San Marcos. According to the California Highway Patrol Officers, the teenager was driving a silver Pontiac Solstice convertible on state Route 78 (SR-78) when he veered off freeway, went through a chain link fence, and crashed head-on into the woman driving an Acura TL on Grand Avenue.

According to San Marcos Fire Capt. Jason O'Brien, both the injured drivers had to extricated from their vehicles and were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A witness told investigating officers that the Pontiac Solstice driver was speeding when this two-vehicles collided.
