One Woman Dies, Another Suffers Injuries In Orange County Solo Vehicle Crash
21-year-old West Covina resident Manal Darwiche was killed and her 18-year-old unidentified passenger from Garden Grove suffered serious injuries in an Irvine solo car accident that occurred about 1 a.m. near Sunnyhill and Shady Canyon on June 22, 2011. According to Irvine Police Department Lt. Julia Engen, both the victims were travelling east on Shady Canyon in a 1997 Nissan Sentra when they struck a tree.

Darwiche was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Her passenger was immediately transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for her injuries. Investigating officers do not believe that any other vehicle was involved. There is limited information on what appears to have caused the loss of control and come to a stop at a median.
The family members of this deceased victim as well as the injured victims should consult with an Orange County car crash lawyer, who will inform the victims of their legal rights and options. If it is found in the investigation that a vehicle malfunction made the driver lose control of the vehicle, then the automaker will be held liable for Darwiche’s wrongful death and the injuries suffered by her passenger.
Two years prior to this accident, another fatal crash occurred at the same location. Investigators may want to look into whether the road is safe and even.
A knowledgeable Orange County car accident lawyer will help the victims and their family members obtain compensation to cover funeral and burial costs, loss of future earnings, loss of love, care and companionship, and other accident-related damages.
