California Man Loses Life in Fatal Virginia Car Accident
An 18-year old California man lost his life in a Virginia car accident that happened at the Gideon Drive and Dale Boulevard intersection in Woodbridge, VA on April 6, 2010. The fatal accident occurred around 9:30 p.m.
The victim, Jose Chavez of Shafter, California, was struck by a privately operated bus as he was crossing the road. He then became trapped beneath it and was dragged some 50 feet. Chavez soon succumbed to his injuries. Chavez had recently arrived in Northern Virginia from California to visit relatives and to look for a job.
Our office wishes to offer our sincere prayers and condolences to Chavez’s friends and family. Losing a loved one is never easy. Anyone who is one the road--be it a driver, a bicyclist, or a pedestrian--must make every effort to be careful and aware of the road traffic. Pedestrians must always use the designated areas for crossing roads and those driving cars and buses must make sure that they look out for vulnerable pedestrians and bicycle riders on the road.
