Riverside Car Accident Kills Elderly Murrieta Man

A 75-year old Murrieta man lost his life in a Riverside County auto accident as the vehicle he was driving crashed into a center median of the road along the 41000 block of California Oaks Road in Murrieta. This fatal car accident took place on February 7, 2010, around 6:30 a.m.

The deceased, Eugene Farinas, was driving his SUV when he veered off the road and crashed into the median. He was taken to the Inland Valley Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries within an hour. An autopsy has been ordered to probe into the cause of death, said Riverside County Coroner's officials.

Our office wishes to convey our sincere prayers and condolences to the family and friends of Eugene Farinas. It has to be said that driving in old age is potentially very dangerous, not only for the elderly driver but also for fellow drivers and pedestrians. Another car accident was also reported a week ago in which a 92-year-old man killed a teenage Vista boy in a hit and run auto accident. Thought has to be given to the danger posed by senior citizens driving when they perhaps should not.
