Victim Identified in San Diego High-Speed Auto Accident

A man killed in a single-vehicle San Diego car crash on August 13, 2009, was identified as John Kirk Colgin Jr., 24, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office. Colgin had been speeding in a Toyota pickup truck on 11th Street near Fern Avenue at 10 p.m. when he hit several parked cars, officials said. The right front tire came off of the vehicle which caused Colgin to lose control of his truck and it overturned, killing him in the San Diego car wreck.

Colgin had not been wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown out of the truck, which then rolled on top of him. Witnesses had lifted the truck off of him and worked on performing CPR when the paramedics arrived, but he still died from the injuries he sustained. Colgin was married and lived with his wife and son in Imperial Beach, the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
