San Diego Auto Accident Injures Firefighter

A firefighter suffered minor injuries on the morning of August 15, 2009, when a motor vehicle hit the back of his engine at an earlier freeway crash, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The engine crew of the firefighter had just arrived at the scene of a prior car accident on northbound Interstate 15 at Mira Mesa Boulevard, and was around midnight. The California Highway Patrol reported that a car had hit a tire in the freeway lanes and rolled over as a result. When the firefighter exited the fire engine, he had seen the car approaching and tried to take cover behind the rig. However, the car hit the engine, which then had impact on the firefighter, propelling him in the air. He had to be taken to a hospital for treatment of bumps and bruises, and was thankfully released back to duty.
