National City Man Killed in Alpine Rollover Car Accident
Earlier this week, a man was killed when the vehicle his wife was driving swiped a van along Interstate 8 in the East County highlands and rolled into a gorge, leading to his death. He was recently identified as being a 70-year-old man resident of National City in San Diego County.
Dennis Conrad Wolf had been the front seat passenger in his wife's vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier that unexpectedly swerved in front of a commercial van just off of Willows Road in Alpine around 12:45 p.m. on July 31, 2009, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer. The back of the their car hit the front of the truck in this fatal San Diego auto accident. The Cavalier then spun out and off the south side of the freeway, rolling around 50 feet down a steep embankment.
Wolf was partially thrown from the car, which then ended up landing on top of him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Wolf's wife was airlifted to a trauma center for evaluation on suspicion of neck and back pain. The driver of the truck had no reported injuries.
