Fresno Hit-and-Run Car Accident Kills 4 People
A Fresno commercial truck driver was arrested on August 3, 2009, when his big-rig carrying tomatoes was involved in an early morning crash that ended up leaving four people dead from this Fresno interstate trucking accident.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the car wreck happened just after 5 a.m. on August 3 just 40 miles southwest of Fresno when the truck driver allegedly ran a stop sign and hit a small car nearby. Witnesses to the collision noted that the truck driver fled the scene but was located about three hours later and arrested on suspicion of both a hit-and run-accident with injuries and vehicular manslaughter. The commercial truck was towed for evidence. The collision was strong enough that it ripped the roof off of the car.
The only survivors of the multiple car pileup was one young woman, who had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
