Five People Die in Fiery Mission Viejo Car Accident

Five people, all family members, were reported dead after their SUV crashed and caught fire on an Orange County freeway in Mission Viejo on April 4, 2009.

California Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Montoya notes that witnesses saw the SUV blow a tire causing this Interstate 5 auto accident. The vehicle then spun over an embankment and rolled several times before landing on the roof and catching on fire.

The Orange County Coroner mentioned that a 37-year-old man along with a 33-year-old woman were inside the SUV at the time, along with three other females. The passengers had apparently been trapped inside the car and could not escape. Their bodies had tragically been burned beyond recognition.
