Elderly Woman Dies in San Diego County Car Accident
An 73-year-old woman from Julian, a City in San Diego County, was killed on August 10, 2009, when the 2001 Ford Explorer she was driving overturned multiple times and crashed into a large pine tree on a mountain road in eastern San Diego County. Authorities recently released the name of the victim, identifying her the next day as Charlotte Lorraine Winn.
Winn, along with her 68-year-old husband, were in the single-vehicle collision on San Diego's State Route 79, north of Wolahi Road just before 3:30 p.m. on August 10, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. Paramedics who arrived on the scene transported Winn to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, although she died a short time after getting to the hospital. Winn's husband had suffered moderate injuries and had to be taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.
