San Diego Joyride Car Accident Ends In Two Teen Injuries
An 18-year-old was the suspect of a drunk driving spree in the Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego early Thursday morning, where the car driver and another teenage passenger crashed into two vehicles parked in front of a home and left the two with severe injuries.
San Diego Police Sgt. Jeff Fellows reported that those present in the car had been at a friend's house in the area drinking before they decided to leave around 3:30 a.m. to go to the store. It is thought that they were going around 80 mph when the driver lost control and crashed the car on Arista Court, just off of Arista Street, in this San Diego injury accident. The car wreck came about when the car hit the two vehicles and stood on end, leaning against the two cars it hit, and the garage. The passenger, who is believe to be 17 or 18, and driver both left and immediately ran back to their friend's house, where police tracked them down. They were taken to the hospital for treatment to their injuries which, though severe, were not life-threatening.
The two involved in the drunken joy ride said that their friend's mother was on her honeymoon and they took the keys to her car. Drunk driving is something to be looking for at all times while on the road, and from all drivers. Though it is illegal to consume alcohol or alcoholic products in the United States when you are under the age of 21, it is still likely that those underage will do it and then get behind the wheel.
