Car Crashes Into San Diego Bay
San Diego Harbor Police found a submerged minivan in the San Diego Bay at about 10:49 p.m. Monday night near the Sheraton Hotel. Within a few minutes divers dove into the bay to search for victims and found Margaret Johnson, 57, from Vista, California near the driver's area of the van. Witnesses of the crash said that the driver failed to make a turn at a T-intersection at Harbor Island Drive, went over the curb, and plunged into the bay. They were both unconscious when they were found. San Diego officials performed CPR and were then taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. They remain in critical condition.
The crash is still under investigation. San Diego Harbor Police reported that there were no obvious signs of alcohol.
