Pregnant Woman Hospitalized After Escondido Car Accident
A 27-year-old pregnant woman was hospitalized after she caused an Escondido car crash near the San Diego Wild Animal Park on San Pasqual Road on March 11. The car accident occurred because she was tired and falling asleep at the wheel when she drifted into the oncoming eastbound traffic, colliding head-on with a Ford F-350 pick-up truck. San Diego County officials said that the 27-week pregnant driver suffered a compound fracture of one of her legs, but no other injuries were reported.
Thankfully, the driver in the Ford F-350 truck was not injured. However, whether it be from changes in the body caused by pregnancy, aging, sickness, or whether its from simply not getting enough sleep, San Diego car drivers need to be aware of the dangers of fatigue and driving. When tired, drivers lose the alertness that driving deserved placing themselves and others on the road in danger. Some may say that it is just as bad to drive tired as it is to drive under the influence.
