Many times pedestrians get frustrated by long traffic lights or think that they can cross whenever or wherever they want. When they do, they are unfortunately taking their lives into their own hands. Traffic lights and crosswalks are intended to protect pedestrians. Failing to cross the street at these designated times and locations may lead to serious injury or death. Also, not using a crosswalk when crossing an intersection weakens any legitimate claim a pedestrian may have for their injuries. San Diego pedestrians should take their time to be safe and use the designated crosswalks.
